As part of the company called its continuing growth in distribution and fulfillment services, Averitt Express recently opened a new facility in the Memphis area.
The facility features 260,000 square feet of enclosed space to handle the flow and distribution of domestic and international freight. Close to the Memphis International Airport, as well as the Memphis area railyard, the new location will be equipped to handle the growing international shipping needs in the region, according to a statement from Averitt. The area is in the heart of one of the nation’s busiest manufacturing and customer-dense regions, as it’s within a day’s reach of numerous major markets including Atlanta, Cincinnati and Dallas.
With its new Memphis facility, Averitt will be able to streamline its customers’ supply chain needs throughout the Central and Southeast United States.
The new facility raises the company’s total warehousing space to over 2.5 million square feet of space across more than 40 locations.
“We’ve eagerly awaited the opening of our Memphis distribution & fulfillment facility,” said Ed Smith, Averitt’s vice president of distribution and fulfillment. “It just took the right partnership with the right facility. And once we found that, it created the perfect opportunity. Memphis is one of the largest intermodal markets in the country.”
Love’s donates $25,000 to advocates for children
Love’s Travel Stops is taking part in Giving Tuesday by donating $25,000 to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Oklahoma County, Inc, a volunteer program that provides trained, caring adults with opportunities to advocate for the best interest of children who have been removed from their home due to neglect or abuse. This year’s Giving Tuesday donation recipient was voted on by Love’s corporate employees in Oklahoma City.
“We are honored to extend our Giving Tuesday donation to CASA of Oklahoma County,” said Jenny Love Meyer, chief culture officer and executive vice president of Love’s. “The impact their organization has on children is so significant and truly stands out to our employees because we know the importance of fostering our youth.”
Throughout the year, Love’s and its corporate employees provide support to kids across Oklahoma City by tutoring, throwing parties for, and donating to Ridgeview Elementary School and Positive Tomorrows, Oklahoma’s only school for children experiencing homelessness.
